BRAILES SHOW

This year's event was held on Saturday 8th August 2009. http://www.brailesvillageshow.com The show is located at Lower Brailes village hall & grounds which is easily found. Traditionally held the first Saturday in August since the 1940s.

Starts at 1.30 p.m. Presentation of Cups and Trophies starts at 4.30 p.m.

It has something for everyone and is a fun day out for all the family and extends into the evening starting with a barbecue and then music in the main tent with either local or guest bands. The show can easily attract a few thousand visitors.

2009's attractions

 

 

 

 

  • 9.30 a.m. All day Horse Show starts (class registration from 8.30 a.m.)
  • 1.30 p.m. Dog Show starts (class registration from 12.30 p.m.)
  • 1.30 p.m. Family Fun begins starting with the Tug of War at 1.35 p.m.
  • 1:30 p.m. Flower, Veg & Craft marquee opens to the public
  • 4.30 p.m. Flower, Veg & Craft Show presentation of cups and trophies
  • 5.30 p.m. Show closes
  • 8.00 p.m. Big Party (live music), Bar & BBQ

  • The classes are varied and include vegetables, flowers, wine and cider, honey, produce, craft, art, photography, floral art and children classes.

Anybody can enter and judging takes place behind closed doors around mid-morning.

How to enter: Free show schedules giving details about the classes, costs and entry forms are available closer to the show date. They will be distributed around newsagents, garages and local shops in Brailes village, Banbury, Shipston and surrounding areas.

Profits from the show go towards supporting the next year’s event and donations are made to local groups and charities (i.e. schools). A substantial donation also goes towards the upkeep of the village hall and playing fields which are widely used by the community.

The Brailes Show Big Party features two local bands this year:

  • Wired and
  • The Rifformers
    (includes villagers George Scholes, Neil Hourigan and Chris Atkins, Steve Self, Laura Furnell)

Both bands do 'covers' of other artist’s songs and the music is well known pop classics from the 60's to today. So, all set for a great evening of family entertainment.

Doors open at 8.00 p.m. Tickets can be bought at the gate on the day, in advance by contacting Tim Porter (01608 685332) or from The Gate Inn, Upper Brailes.

Tickets: £10.00. Under 12’s: £2. Over 70: free!
